Festival of Whales at Dana Point, March 7 at 8 a.m. – 7:30 p.m. and March 8 from 10 a.m. – 5:15 p.m. (Dana Point Harbor, CA 92629). The Dana Point Festival of Whales is two consecutive fun-filled weekends featuring a parade, street fair, art shows/sales, classic cars and boats, food, spirits/beer gardens, beach concerts, games, contests (sand sculpture, clam chowder cook-off), whale watching and educational activities. Wild & Scenic Film Festival at Sierra Madre Playhouse from 7-9:30 p.m. (87 W. Sierra Madre Blvd., Sierra Madre, CA 91024). Watch short environmental and adventure films that will help the Mono Lake Committee’s Outdoor Education Center raise funds for programs which bring underserved and at risk Los Angeles youth to the source of LA’s drinking water at Mono Lake for week-long community-building experiences in the wild outdoors.
